Cats, cats cats such cute and snuggley creatures. A good reason to write some facts about them so here are some facts about cats:

• There are 36 species of cat
• The world record for the longest cat whiskers is 19 cm
• International cat day is on the 8th of August
• The oldest pet cat in the world existed 9,500 years ago
• Cats spend 70% of their lives sleeping
• A cat was the mayor of an Alaskan town for twenty years
• The record for the longest cat ever is 48.5 inches long
• The richest cat in the world had $7 million 
• Cats walk like camels and giraffes
• Issac Newton invented the cat door
• In 1963 a cat went to space
• Ancient Egyptians would shave off their eyebrows when their cats died
• House cats share 95.6% of their genetic make-up with tigers
• A house cat can reach speeds of up to 30mph 
• The record for the loudest purr is 67.8db (A) (almost the noise a shower can get up to!)
• The oldest cat in the world is 38 yrs and 3 days (the cats owners name was Jake Perry)
